Name :
Recombinant Human Cadherin-11 Protein (His Tag), HPLC-verified

Biological Activity :

Background :
A mesenchymal marker, Cadherin-11‘s (CDH11) gene is situated on chromosome 16q22.1. CDH11 is a type II atypical cadherin, an integral membrane protein that mediates calcium-dependent, cell-cell homophilic interactions. Defined by a large extracellular N-domain, a single membrane-spanning domain, a small C-cytoplasmic domain, and the lack of an HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence, CDH11 expression is increased in fibrotic diseases such as systemic sclerosis, as well as in chronic inflammatory arthritis. CDH11 leads to promoter methylation inactivation, which can induce cancer cell apoptosis and suppress invasion through Wnt/β-catenin, AKT/Rho A, and NF-κB signaling pathways. CDH11 mRNA and protein was expressed in most invasive breast cancer cell lines tested but not in non-invasive cell lines, suggesting that CDH11 may be a marker for aggressive, invasive tumor subsets.
