Biochem/physiol Actions:
β-catenin (CTNNB1) is a multifunctional protein that regulates development processes and cell adhesion. CTNNB1 interacts with Wnt signaling pathway and FoxM1 to regulate genes crucial for cell survival, angiogenesis, invasion and self-renewal. The cross talk of Wnt and CTNNB1 is important for signaling pathways in T cell maturation and neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer′s disease and schizophrenia. The FoxM1-β-catenin pathway regulates tumorigenicity of glioma stem cells.
